California car accidents: 1 dead in head-on collision

Sometimes, a vehicle will end up in the opposite lane on a highway due to a factor out of the driver's control, such as mechanical failure or impact from another vehicle. Some California drivers may have encountered such an experience. Likely, though, most often in this type of situation, the driver is at fault. He or she may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol or distracted by a cellphone, for example. Whatever the reason, wrong-way drivers can cause car accidents, often involving at least one fatality, as was the case recently in West Los Angeles.

Car accidents involving motorcycles often end with fatality

California residents who carry a driver's license know that with this privilege comes a great responsibility to obey traffic laws, avoid alcohol and drugs before driving and minimize distractions in the vehicle. One could add to this list the expectation that anyone involved in a collision will remain at the scene and be accountable for any part they have played in the incident. Most people probably have difficulty understanding car accidents in which the driver who is likely responsible flees from the scene, but unfortunately, this type of situation does occur.

California car accidents: Driver runs red light, 1 person dead

All California residents who have operated a motor vehicle, and even those who have not, understand the need to act responsibly while behind the wheel as well as prior to driving. They understand that car accidents can happen from failing to do so, often leading to serious consequences, and sometimes including fatalities. However, despite the ubiquitous messages telling people about the dangers of combining alcohol or drugs with driving, some people continue to make irresponsible decisions that put their own and the lives of others at risk. This seems to have been the case when one person was killed and two others injured after a driver ran a red light.

Whiplash can be more serious in older adults

Whiplash is a common injury for car accident victims. You can suffer from it after crashing at merely five to 10 miles per hour. And while whiplash can be uncomfortable and painful for anyone who suffers from it, older adults might experience more painful symptoms.
