Conditions on California highways can change at any given moment. Traffic can slow or weather can worsen making it necessary for all drivers to remain vigilant. Unfortunately, a recent crash could ultimately result in a wrongful death lawsuit.
The accident happened in the westbound lanes of a California highway just after 8 a.m. According to reports, the driver of a sedan slowed as a result of an unrelated collision involving a motorcycle that happened earlier. Unfortunately, reports indicate that the sedan was struck in the rear by a sports utility vehicle. Several other vehicles were ultimately involved in the collision.
Unfortunately, the driver of the sedan, a 46-year-old woman, reportedly passed away as a result of injuries suffered in the collision. A passenger in the sedan suffered major injuries. All three occupants in the SUV were transported to the hospital. While a child was transported as a precautionary measure, the driver and another passenger reportedly suffered major injuries. Three lanes of the highway were closed for several hours due to the accident.
As a result of the accident, a family in California is now left mourning the unexpected loss of their family member. In addition to the grief associated with such a loss, many families are unprepared for the financial ramifications of an unexpected fatality. If a death is the result of another's negligence, surviving family members have the option of filing a wrongful death lawsuit. A successfully presented case could result in a financial award that will help grieving loved ones better manage the consequences of their loss.
