Cab driver killed in hit-and-run accident

| May 1, 2014 | Car Accidents |

People in San Diego may have heard about a tragic accident that took the life of a 42-year-old cab driver, a family man who had come to the United States with his wife and kids to take advantage of the promise of opportunity to earn an honest living. Sadly that opportunity vanished in the blink of an eye, when a suspected drunk driver came barreling down the wrong lane directly at his cab.

The car accident occurred around 2:30 in the morning, while the man was driving down Interstate 5 near Old Town Avenue. Out of nowhere, a car appeared in the wrong lane, heading right for him. The cab driver was unable to avoid a head-on collision. The force of the auto accident threw him from his vehicle, where his defenseless body was struck and run over by several other cars on the highway. While he lay dying in the streets, the woman who caused the wreck fled the scene. Fortunately police were able to locate her later that morning and arrest her on suspicion of drunk driving.

The man left behind a loving family, including three young children he worked long hours to support. Without the man, his wife and kids may struggle to make ends meet. Even though the man was active in the community and beloved by his fellow co-workers and friends, the family shouldn’t be expected or required to live on the charity of others.

The man’s surviving family should bring a civil suit for damages, including wrongful death, against the drunk driver who recklessly killed the family patriarch. With the help of an experienced personal injury attorney, the family could recover monetary amounts including, the man’s future financial contributions that were lost forever when he was killed.
