A 26-year-old drunk driver allegedly sped through an intersection in California, ignored a traffic light and plowed into two other vehicles. The collision sent several occupants of the vehicles to area hospitals. The car accident occurred at around 9:45 a.m. on a Saturday, which shows that dangerous drivers can be out and causing havoc at any time and any place.
The collision's impact sent a 66-year-old man to the hospital to receive treatment for a serious head injury. Others caught up in the collision were treated in the hospital, but did not sustain serious injuries.
No matter the extent of the apparent injury, people involved in a car accident should always seek medical attention. Sometimes serious injuries may not be apparent until weeks or months after an accident, but only it will require a medical examination to receive a definite diagnosis. While some people are reluctant to go to the hospital because of the possibility of high medical expenses, it is always better to be safe, not sorry, when it comes to injuries sustained in a car accident.
In cases where one driver is clearly at fault, that may be held liable for the financial and medical damage, as well as any pain and suffering, caused by the accident. A person who is injured may be entitled to be compensated for lost wages and loss of earning potential. A legal advocate can play an important role in helping the injured driver or passenger obtain the benefits they deserve from the careless driver or an insurance company.
